A Focus on the Present
We must forget those things
that are behind -- natural things like am radio, gas for a dollar a gallon,
and a time when flying cross country was only a dream of two brothers. We
must also forget spiritual things like our attachment to our past
liabilities and our past laurels or points of commendation. We must look to
the needs, challenges, and innovative strategies of today in the context of
biblical truth and spiritual maturity. Our focus must be on the vision at
hand, and we must put the vision in our hand and work it for the glory of
God.
Let’s
keep it simple, our vision is threefold:
1.
Reaching this community and the world with the gospel.
Our soul goal
this year is 1000 souls added to the kingdom of God and transformed into a
mighty aggressive army of new converts added to the church. We will actively
become a church that is unchurched people friendly. Our methods, messages,
and ministries will begin to transform in this year to a more unchurched
people friendly model. Our goal is to reach the lost, and shepherd the saved
to spiritual maturity. Surely, many churched people will be added to our
ranks who understand that the church big mission is lost souls, not swapping
members from church to church.
2. Disciplining the
believer into a mature believer capable of effective anointed ministry for
this season.
This is crucial if we are to be what God called us to be. We must have a
strategic plan for the maturity of the believer that we are committed to
that will create resources of service, funds, and ministry. We can no longer
stay at home, withhold our spiritual gifts, withhold our tithes, offering
and seeds, for the need of the lost make a demand on the saved.
3.
Remaining in the forefront of the move of God enabling all who are connected
to this ministry to stay in the constant flow of his will.
In order to stay in the will of God, we must remain focused. When personal
agenda, structural power plays, and personal offense become our focus, we
lose sight of the ministry of the kingdom and although our hands are busy
our hearts cancel the possibility of an effective work. Therefore, we must
stay on the frontline so our view is not distracted or blocked by being too
many steps behind what God is doing.
